My experience using blogs

Hello again, i'm Valentín and i'm going to talk about my expierence using blogs in my english class. Well, i think that is a very useful tool in order to share and transmit different experiences that we had in our lives, how we feel right now or just to post an interesting article. I learned so much this semester in english, especially in oral activities, i think this is a important thing, because speaking english is basic for our professional develop and work, some day i would like to visit another country in order to meet people, expand my musical horizon and practice my english. I think that my writing skills have developed, because now i feel that it has improved synthesis capacity, i can express something with the right words so people really understand what i want to express.  . I would like to include in english class a section destined to keep skype conversations  with people of USA to create an cultural interchange about our country, music (that includes our careers)...

Music Web site

                                             Hello everybody, today I’m going to talk about a web site that in my opinion is practical and useful for every musician, this is called www.teoria.com. We as musicians need to practice a lot, because our career requires, we need to remember notes, musical passages, rhythms, and study other subjects to complement our practical knowledge, for example the music theory.  In this page, you found different sections, each of these sections teach you about a new subject and the difficulty level increases with them, you can practice all related to the basics of music: intervals, chords, scales, reading music, harmonic functions, musical forms, etc. The page design is very simple, the background only has a long partiture, but I think is enough, because the page is focus in the practice, it is not necessary have more details. Musician and composer Michel Camilo

Michel Camilo is Latin jazz and classical musician, piano player, composer and conductor from Santo Domingo, Republica Domenicana. He studied 13 years in National Conservatory and at 16 years old he became a member of Nacional Symphony Orchestra from his country. He moved to New York, here he studied at Julliard Music School.  One of his greatest compositions is ‘’Why not’’ which won a Grammy recording by Paquito D’ Rivera in one of his albums. All years he plays at the Carnegie Hall, and he is invited to many festivals, like The Newport Jazz Festival, Heineken Jazz Festival and different tours around Japan. He create a new style called Caribbean Jazz music, and he makes tributes to different composers around the world combining the music from his country and the jazz music. I like this musician, because he is so virtuous, is a beautiful person and humility.

Do you know who is him?

   He is my nephew!!! he is only 5 years old, i think he's gonna be a very smart person, because he said his first word at 2 years old and he learn anything so fast. All my family celebrated his first birthday in a room in Valparaiso, it was everything fully decorated, there was globes, a lot of food, children everywhere and a beatiful cake of Doki,  his favourite TV show. My mother took this picture in his bedroom, he was dressed with a spiderman suit, i remember that i was trying to joking with him and he was laughing all the time. When he travel with his mother to Tomé, we went to the beach, and he was crying, because he don't like the sea water.

My musical projects for the future

    I really feel that all time is a good moment to start a project, in my opinion in all places the music is require and very good received. For example, 3 years ago I had a Cuban music group, we played in different places, like restaurants, cultural places, it was a great experience and unique experience, because people enjoyed with our music and they liked to dance. At this moment I’m working in a contemporizing music band, and I enjoy this so much, because all the music that we are playing is from Chilean composers, they reflect his trivial experiences into the music through effects and that produce a very good sensation. In the future I would like to be part of a great professional orchestra, I hope in Berliner Philarmoniker, also one of my biggest dream is going to study jazz music in New York with Paquito D’Rivera. I hope one day have my own group in any kind of music, shows to the people how I feel and demonstrate through my personal expression.

My favorite piece of technology

My favourite piece of technology is the notebook. The notebook is a laptop device that it can be transported more easily than a Desk computer. Consists in a small screen, an integrated keyboard, an audio input, usb ports, an internet connection, SD card slot, anyway is a perfect tool for all people today . It have some softwares that it can be used to differents things: you can write, can listen to a song, watch videos, etc. My first Desk Computer it was a gift from my grandfather for my brother and I in 2001, was a Packard Bell model. It was a expensive gift at that time, he paid $600.000 in chilean money. We used to play video games in the computer. I liked because it had many tools for a proper use and we used to put a lot of information in that computer and it still working normally. I think my life and life of all people without a computer or maybe without technology it will become kind of bored and slow.

My expectations for this semester

Well, my expectations for this semester are: first, try to acquire more knowledge in all my subjects to apply them in other ambit of my music career, specially playing the clarinet, and at the orchestra. I would like to participate in different contests and expand my experiences as a clarinetist to be prepare for future challenges. I'm studying a very important concert inside the clarinet world, called Mozart Clarinet Concerto for A clarinet, is complicated, because it must be played with rigorousness. Also, i have an sports subject called Table tennis which is a interesting sport, because i have to be very concentrate and think about what the opponent will going to do. I'm going to compete in a table tennis tournament, so i have to practice a lot. In general i hope to get better in all my subjects and grow up like a musician.
